SP Honolulu, SP Sydney

A remake of a 1970 serial after 36 yrs, アテンションプリーズ's storyline focuses on the training of future cabin attendants for Japan Airlines. It gives an inside view of the various etiquette classes and behaviors that would-be CAs have to master before they are presented in front of passengers.

Ueto Aya as Misaki Yoko, who lost her mum at a young age and was raised in an all male family, resulting in her boyish character. She became the lead singer of a punk band with 4 boys and has not had a girl friend since young.

When her crush in the band had to relocate to Tokyo for work, the band was disbanded and she missed her chance to confess to him. At the airport, the boys were excited over the uniformed CAs, including her crush, which made Yoko decide to join the JAL recruitment.

At the interview, Yoko shows up in her outlandish punk outfit whereas the other candidates were all in their neat office suits. She chanced upon Wakamura Yayoi (Aibu Saki) exiting the room after her interview and pulled her into the ladies, forcing her to swap clothes with her, even thou that was the first time they met.

Surprisingly Yoko was accepted and made a loud appearance at the orientation ceremony 5 min before the ceremony starts in the filled hall. Although she is up to her neck just by being in an all-girls class with a strict lady instructor, she found friends in Yayoi and Sekiyama Yuki (Otsuka Chihiro) and slowly understands Mikami Kyoukan's intentions.

Yayoi, Yoko and Yuki upon hearing that their punishment for "stealing" the model away was cleaning duties for a week.

Mikami Tamaki (Maya Miki) is the disciplinarian instructor of Yoko's class. Thou on the surface she seems to be picking on every little fault of Yoko, making Yoko extremely rebellious against her, she actually has great expectations of Yoko and does not want her to follow the same footsteps as an ex-CA whom Mikami was in charge of. Yoko, to the instructors and directors, is the exact copy of that CA who had failed to save an unconscious man on a flight and suffered from post-trauma depression. She was killed in an accident shortly after the incident. After the incident, Mikami was transferred to the training department where she met Yoko years after and is determined to train Yoko to be a first class CA, both mentally and physically.

Nakahara Shota (Nishikido Ryo) attended the Pilot Academy to be a commercial pilot until a checkup revealed that he had an injury in his eye causing him not to have perfect eyesight. Due to his love for planes, he switched career to be an aircraft engineer instead, working behind the scenes to ensure the safety of the passengers.

Shota had a chance meeting with Yoko on her day of the orientation, where after bumping into him at the train station, she accused him of stealing her ticket. Later on, she found out that he was working in the hanger of the same building and starts to disturb him every now and then, that being her break from the intense all girls environment during training. Yoko, being direct and unreserved, infuriated Shota on numerous occasions but they became close friends as time goes on. There were some love chemistry between the both of them but neither of them took any action to further the relationship.

Koizumi Kotaro gets the playboy role as Tsutsumi Shuusuke, a trainee pilot whom Yoko nicknames "Crow" as unstriped uniforms of a trainee pilot resembles the all black bird. He initially tries to use his glib tongue to advance in his career but eventually works hard to qualify as a co-pilot after being inspired by Shota. Nearing the end of the series, he sends the wrong signals to Yuki by saying she's cute and henceforth pulls the other side of her from her usual gentleness.

The series is filled with laughters, mainly at Yoko, but otherwise is inspirational for aspiring CAs.

交渉人I, SP, II

日本警視廳特殊犯罪搜查科,通稱為「SIT」,是負責處理綁架、挾持人質、恐嚇企業...的團隊,談判專家就是其中一支隊伍。

Usagi Reiko (Yonekura Ryoko), originally from the Juvenile Section, requests to be transferred to SIT, becoming the first female negotiator in Japan. As Usagi is not the typical docile Japanese woman, she finds it hard to fit into the male dominated team, who were often harsh on her even thou her judgements are sometimes right.

Only in Season II did she really gain the acceptance of the team, with them giving her a fond nickname of Usagi (Rabbit), instead of using it sarcastically in Season I.

She has a really, really, REALLY, toned body (See Ep 2 or 3 of Season I)

Kirisawa Keigo (Jinnai Takanori), or Chii-fu which Usagi usually called him, is a disciplinarian and sexist who looked down on Usagi initially, but later on recognising her ability as she dashes into the frontline without hesitations and tries to settle the situation with no casualties.

Mori Kogoro!!

The negotiation team of SIT

Mariya Kyosuke (Shirota Yu) is a convict on death row for possession of firearm and killing of a police officer, amongst other crimes he and his group committed. He is the psychic/psychiatrist of the show, although he behaves crankily, for Usagi is always seen visiting him even though he had killed her father. Mariya often gave her hints to the criminal's mentality and he noes what is going on outside even thou he is locked up in a secluded cell. Later on in the series, he gets more visit from the likes of Kirisawa to Takabayashi.

In Season I, it was revealed later in the series that the motive for Usagi to transfer to SIT was to find out what actually caused her father's death during a face off. The media reported that Usagi's father was shot by Mariya, the leader of the juvenile group who had caused an uproar in peaceful Japan 5 years ago, but the bullet wound was at the back, which leads Usagi into thinking there must be some hidden secrets to the incident.

Season II sees Usagi up against "Summer Claus", a terrorist that hijacked a shipment of 27 guns and sends them to random individuals in Tokyo. People who were suppressing their thoughts under the stress of the society were offered a gateway to freedom, thus leading to a couple of shooting rampages and tragedies with the guns.

The plot is excellent with a running storyline behind the individual episodes, except that Season I's revelation of the situation during Usagi's father's death was a bit too fuzzy. I'm still not clear of what actually happened, only knew that its a cover up for a lost police gun.

The series is not jus a normal investigative suspense show but it goes deeper into the emotions of the criminals to bring out the motive of their actions.

Good! Other than for the lack of bishonens..

東京DOGS

AhhHHhHHhh... this jus affirms that I like guys with short hair!

*swoons*

Takakura So (Oguri Shun) a Japanese elite from the NYPD, blotched a big time capture and was demoted back to Japan's police force. There, with the help of his Japan's supervisor, who is his late father's close friend, he was teamed with Maruo to investigate drug dealings which are possibly leads to the mastermind that got away in New York, and who also is the killer of his father.

I like him better here than in Hana Kimi!

Kudo Maruo (Mizushima Hiro), the happy-go-lucky, flirty, former delinquent police that is the total opposite from the cool-headed, logical, textbook-styled So.

As such, they are always getting into nonsensical squibbles in the heat of an investigation.

So, despite his tough outlook, is a mummy's boy and is often seen receiving calls from his mum asking his opinions on minute things when he's in the midst of a stake out or chasing after suspects.

Horikawa Keiichi (Katsuji Ryo), formerly Maruo's equally timid and useless partner, was reshuffled to team up with others and tasked with a full-time job of looking after Yuki. After days of sticking around in the cafe as an undercover waiter serving customers while protecting Yuki, he got frustrated for not being involved in the investigative cases that So and Maruo were put on and vowed to his girlfriend that he will achieve his mark and marry her.

He's quite cute~

Matsunaga Yuki (Yoshitaka Yuriko) was rescued from the scene of the firefight during the blotched capture of the drug trafficking mastermind in New York without any memories. She was initially placed under house protection for she might be an important link to the mastermind and there might be risk on her life but subsequently, to aid her recovery, she was allowed to work in the cafe together with Horikawa.

The plot is quite captivating and the interactions of So with Maruo and his mama is very funny! Particularly enjoyed the scene where Maruo and Yuki followed So back to his house with So is embarrassed by his mama and also the parting scene at the airport. HAHHA~

メイちゃんの執事

Spoiler warning..

IKEMEN GALORE!! *drools*

Shinonome Mei (Eikura Nana) is a dorky looking girl who wears thick-rimmed glasses, hair clips and most absurdly of all, trackpants under the school skirt with sports shoes. She hails from a small town of Japan, leading a simple life helping her parents at their udon store and fooling around with her classmates.

That is, until the death of her parents in an accident and the introduction of Shibata Rihito (Mizushima Hiro) into her life.

Rihito, the S-ranked butler of the Hongo family and the elder brother of Shibata Kento (Sato Takeru), Mei's childhood friend, arrives at the small town and visited Mei, who was tired out from the grieving, school and the udon store which she mans alone now. He gave Mei the turning point of her life by announcing that her late father was in fact, the only son of the Hongo family and, had ran away with her mum, giving up the Hongo name and inheritance rights. Now, her never-met-before grandfather, Hongo Kintaro, has decided to give her the rights to fight for the huge Hongo estate on terms that she attends the prestigious 100MM Yen per month St Lucia Academy, an all girls' school where every student is accompanied by an extremely good looking butler, and become a lady that Kintaro acknowledges with Rihito as her butler.

Kento, or more affectionately known as Mameshiba by Mei, comes from an outstanding butler lineage, including his elder brother, but has absolutely no interest in becoming a butler, choosing to live on his own in the small town. Although he and Mei are always getting on each other's nerves, Kento does have the feelings for Mei, which he recognises only when Rihito admits Mei into St Lucia. So to be by Mei's side, he clears the demonic 24 hour standing trial easily and gains entrance into the butler school, becoming an apprentice butler under Rika.

Hongo Shiori (Yamada Yu), the adopted daughter of Kintaro after Mei's father left the family and the Lucia, a title conferred to the one with the most excellent flair and results, was the sole benefactor of the Hongo estate but now with the threat of Mei, she tries means and underhanded ways to torture and force her to leave the school, with the help of her devoted butler, Shinobu.

Shinobu

So as Mei tries to fit into the socialites community, she encounters conflicts with a number of her classmates but slowly she garners their friendship and understanding.

The academy is made up of 3 main groups of power, namely:

Sole (Sun)

The Sole girls are 2nd in power of the student community, only bowing their heads to the Lucia. Thus under Shiori's reign, the 4 of them listens to her every word, creating trouble for Mei and her allies.

Izumi & Kiba

Ryuonji Izumi (Iwasa Mayuko), also has the Sole rank but due to her righteous personality, she operates independently from the Sole girls. Only when she was stripped of her inheritance rights due to some string pulling from Shinobu and forced to have a political marriage with a elderly man did she try to force Mei to a challenge. Kiba (Yuki Jutta), is her wide-eyed butler, who is a bit slow-thinking but gives his utmost devotion in serving Izumi.

He is cute!! :p

Lunar (Moon)

Most of the others fit into this Lunar category

The bossy Kayama Rika (Oomasa Aya) & the fencing world champion Aoyama (Mayama Akihiro)

Yakuza lineage Natsume Fujiko (Nakabeppu Aoi) & sensual Nezu (Kyo Nobuo)

I absolutely did not recognise he's the Tokyo Uni Kikuchi of Trick!

The child prodigy Mamahara Miruku (Yoshida Riko) & agent Daimon (Suzuki Ryohei)

Ryohei looks much, MUCH better here than in Majo Saiban.

Drool-worthy Daimon

The spiritual team of Amo Rin (Kutsuna Shiori) & Yotsuya (Maruyama Tomomi)

Umbra (Shadow)

Students of St Lucia academy start out as Umbras and slowly gain Stellas to affix on their bells to obtain rank promotions. Stellas are conferred when the student achieves excellent results in class or does a deed worthy of upholding the reputation of St Lucia. The butlers of the Umbra girls are not allowed to wear their jackets and only those of Lucia are allowed tailcoats. But I wonder y Kento gets to keep his jacket even thou Rika and the whole gang were demoted to Umbra for skipping class en-masse to look for Mei at her small town.

The obnoxious Yamada Tami (Tanimura Mitsuki) & silent Kanda (Abe Shinnosuke), housemates of Mei & Rihito.

The academy is governed by Sister Rose (Horiuchi Keiko), who actually prefers to hide in her secret room reading One Piece mangas & Sakuraba (Suzuki Kosuke).

This is one good show. Ok, good bcos of the ikemens! HAHHAHHAHA. Nahh, the story itself is quite nice too.

I want to know the development when Kento returns as an S-ranked butler!

島根の弁護士

Set in the prefecture with the 2nd lowest population in Japan, Shimane has only 36 lawyers out of the total of 20,000 in the whole of Japan.

Yukie plays the power suited Yamazaki Mizuho, a hap-hazard fresh lawyer from Tokyo, who requests to be posted to an area with the least lawyers so that she is able to help those in need. In her interview, she mentioned that working barefooted would raise her fighting spirit and she would be able to do her best.

However, her real reason for getting a transfer to Shimane is to look for her mother, who her dad said had passed away when she was 2 but she thinks otherwise when she went through her citizen register. She believed that her mother is still alive and is most probably at the prefecture where she was brought up.

Through the 107 min show, it seems more like something from the tourism board of Shimane, with the beautiful castle (original, not reconstructed, as per WikiTravel)appearing quite a few times, and the laid-back farms and trades. The plot consists of 2 negligence amounting to death cases and a request to murder case, which the hardworking Mizuho went out of her way to investigate the truth behind the cases.

Probably seeing Yukie in power suit is a better attraction..
